Harlow & Harvey in The Irish Independent Magazine

My photograph of Harlow & Harvey’s cobalt blue dress (which was worn by Aoibhinn Ní Shúilleabháin at the VIP Style Awards this year) was published in The Irish Independent’s weekend supplement yesterday. (The full-length photo was published.) Bairbre Power had some lovely things to say about my friend Sarah O’Neill, the talent behind Harlow & Harvey:

“Some beacons shine bright, such as Sarah O’Neill. […] The double-georgette weight gown was hand-draped asymmetrically to give great movement and body to the dress which really should have won Best Dress [at the VIP Style Awards]. And to think it was from a designer just two years out of college makes me hugely optimistic about the future of Irish fashion.”

I have huge respect for Sarah, who runs Harlow & Harvey on her own from her apartment in Galway city and makes every piece by hand on her trusty vintage sewing machine. I shot her 2009 collection last year - you can see some of that shoot here

Working with us on the day were hair stylist Byron Yeates (who I’ve worked with almost exclusively on my fashion shoots to date) and makeup artist Julianne Hennelly. Our model was Mallory McQueen, who did a great job, and somehow avoided breaking an ankle balancing in 6 inch heels on the quarry hillside! Here’s a couple of behind-the-scenes shots.
